HEATHER K. GAINES is a Shareholder in the Tucson office. Her real estate practice focuses on sales, acquisitions and financing of commercial property, representation of home-builders in general business matters, real estate acquisitions and construction disputes, and representation of commercial landlords in all aspects of commercial property management and lease enforcement. In addition to her real estate practice, Ms. Gaines maintains a general corporate and commercial practice, representing businesses and business owners in all aspects of their operations. Ms. Gaines has also represented numerous school districts in a variety of areas, including desegregation litigation and disputes before the Office of Civil Rights, construction defect litigation, special education matters, and provides general legal advice to these districts. Ms. Gaines has been active for several years in two major school desegregation cases and advises these districts and others with regard to desegregation programs and desegregation budget issues.
Ms. Gaines graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1997, and received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona in 1994. Prior to joining the Firm in 2000, Ms. Gaines clerked for Judges John Pelander and Joseph Howard of the Arizona Court of Appeals, and practiced with a small civil firm in Tucson. Ms. Gaines is a member of the Pima County Bar Association, the State Bar of Arizona (member, Real Property Section), and the Arizona Women Lawyers' Association.
