IRA M. SCHWARTZ is a Shareholder in the Phoenix office with a practice emphasizing intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, computer and Internet law disciplines, commercial litigation, representation of emerging technology businesses, and entertainment law. In addition, he counsels both existing enterprises and startups on all aspects of commercializing new creative and technological products and handles infringement actions. Mr. Schwartz earned a B.A. from the College of Arts and Sciences and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. He received his J.D. from Washington College of Law at American University in 1985. Mr. Schwartz is also licensed in Colorado and is admitted before the Ninth and Federal Circuits of the United States Court of Appeals. In addition, he is a Judge Pro Tempore of the Arizona Superior Court. Mr. Schwartz has published articles and regularly appeared as a speaker on various intellectual property topics before a variety of professional, business, technology, and artistic organizations and associations. He is a member the State Bar of Arizona Business Law Section and a member and past President of the State Bar of Arizona Intellectual Property Section. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Section and the Alternative Dispute Resolution of the American Bar Association and a member of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association and the International Technology Law Association.
